- 初九 初九：壮于趾，征凶，有孚。Power in the toes; continuing brings misfortune; this is certainly true when one makes a move.
- 二九 九二：贞吉。Perseverance brings good fortune.
- 三九 九三：小人用壮，君子用罔，贞厉。羝羊触藩，羸其角。The inferior man works through power; the superior man does not act thus; to continue is dangerous; a ram butts against a hedge and gets his horns entangled.
- 四九 九四：贞吉悔亡，藩决不羸，壮于大舆之輹。The ram butts against the hedge; the hedge opens, the horns are released; the great man does not find it burdensome; good fortune.
- 五六 六五：丧羊于易，无悔。Loses the ram easily; no remorse.
