初九 初九:壮于趾,征凶,有孚。Power in the toes; continuing brings misfortune; this is certainly true when one makes a move.
二九 九二:贞吉。Perseverance brings good fortune.
三九 九三:小人用壮,君子用罔,贞厉。羝羊触藩,羸其角。The inferior man works through power; the superior man does not act thus; to continue is dangerous; a ram butts against a hedge and gets his horns entangled.
四九 九四:贞吉悔亡,藩决不羸,壮于大舆之輹。The ram butts against the hedge; the hedge opens, the horns are released; the great man does not find it burdensome; good fortune.
五六 六五:丧羊于易,无悔。Loses the ram easily; no remorse.
上六 上六:羝羊触藩,不能退,不能遂,无攸利,艰则吉。A ram butts against the hedge; he cannot get back, he cannot get anywhere; nothing furthers; to remain aware of difficulty brings good fortune.
