卦辞 · Judgment
否之匪人，不利君子贞，大往小来。Standstill — the great departs, the small approaches; perseverance of the superior man.
六爻爻辞 · Moving Lines
- 初六 初六：拔茅茹，以其汇，贞吉，亨。When ribbon grass is pulled up, the sod comes with it; each according to kind; perseverance brings good fortune and success.
- 二六 六二：包承，小人吉，大人否，亨。They bear and endure; this means good fortune for the inferior man; the superior man bides his time.
- 三六 六三：包羞。They bear shame.
- 四九 九四：有命无咎，畴离祉。He who acts at the command of the highest remains without blame; those of like mind enjoy blessings.
- 五九 九五：休否，大人吉。其亡其亡，系于苞桑。The great man is retiring; what he desires is to be right; the small man presses on.
