高山藏在平地之下，有实力却不显露。谦卦讲的是把姿态放低：不是自我贬低，而是清楚自己几斤几两，不因一时顺遂而自满。真正把事做成的人，多半少说多干；能力配得上位置，又不拿位置去压人。
生活应用适合刚升职、刚有盈利、刚被表彰、实力超过名声的阶段。成绩讲七分，留三分谈不足；功劳有别人的份就明说，出了岔子先认自己那份。让别人有话可说、有台阶可下，往后的路会顺得多。

- 初六 初六：谦谦君子，用涉大川，吉。A superior man modest about his modesty; may cross the great water; good fortune.
- 二六 六二：鸣谦，贞吉。Modesty that comes to expression; perseverance brings good fortune.
- 三九 九三：劳谦，君子有终，吉。A superior man of modesty and merit; carries things to conclusion; good fortune.
- 四六 六四：无不利，撝谦。Nothing that would not further modesty; in movement be modest.
- 五六 六五：不富以其邻，利用侵伐，无不利。Not boasting of one's wealth before one's neighbor; it furthers to attack with force; nothing that would not further.
- 上六 上六：鸣谦，利用行师，征邑国。Modesty that comes to expression; it furthers to set armies marching to chastise one's own city and country.
